tough
Think of a superhero who has to face a big, strong villain. The superhero is brave and strong, but the villain is also very powerful. When the superhero fights the villain, it is not easy. The superhero has to try really hard and use all their strength and smart ideas to win. This is what we mean when we say something is ‘tough’. It’s like a big challenge that needs a lot of effort to overcome.
Imagine a big rock that you want to move. You push and push, but the rock doesn’t move easily. You have to use a lot of your energy and maybe even ask your friends to help you. Moving that rock is tough because it takes a lot of work and strength.
Think about a time when you were trying to learn something new, like riding a bicycle without training wheels. At first, it might have felt scary and difficult because you had to balance and pedal at the same time. You might have fallen a few times, but you kept trying until you got it right. Learning to ride a bike was tough, but you became better because you didn’t give up.
