stereotype
A stereotype is like thinking that all apples are red just because you saw a red apple once. But apples can be green or yellow too, right? So, a stereotype is when we think something about a group of people or things just because we saw or heard about one or a few of them, even though they can be different.
Imagine a cookie cutter that makes all cookies look the same. A stereotype is like using a cookie cutter on people. It tries to make everyone in a group look or act the same way, but people are like cookies with different shapes and flavors. Everyone is special and unique, even if they are in the same group.
Think of painting. If you only use one color, your picture won’t show all the beautiful things in the world. Stereotypes are like using just one color to paint everyone in a group. But people are like a rainbow, full of many colors and stories.
So, when we meet new people, we should try to learn about them instead of thinking they are like everyone else we’ve heard about. This helps us see the whole picture and understand everyone better.
