The word short can mean a few different things, but let’s talk about it in a fun way. Think about a pencil. When you first get a pencil, it’s long and easy to hold. But as you use it to draw or write, it gets smaller and smaller. When it becomes tiny and hard to hold, we say it’s short. So, being short is all about being smaller or less long than something else.
Now, picture a giraffe and a rabbit. The giraffe has a very long neck, and the rabbit is much smaller. If you compare their heights, the rabbit is short because it doesn’t reach as high as the giraffe. So, short can also mean not as tall as something else.
Imagine you’re waiting in line for a slide. If there are only two kids in front of you, the line is short. But if there are ten kids, the line is long. So, short can mean something that doesn’t take a lot of time or doesn’t have a lot of people or things in it.
