mountain
A mountain is like a giant pile of rocks, but it’s way bigger than any pile you can make in your backyard. It’s so big that it reaches up to the sky and sometimes even touches the clouds. Think of it as a huge ice cream cone turned upside down, with the pointy end touching the ground. The top part of the mountain is called the peak, and it’s like the cherry on top of an ice cream cone, the highest and best part.
Mountains are also like the spines of the Earth. Just like you have a spine that helps you stand tall and strong, mountains help make the Earth look tall and interesting. They have different shapes and sizes, some are round and smooth like a turtle’s shell, while others are sharp and jagged like a dragon’s back.
Sometimes, mountains wear a white blanket made of snow. This snow blanket keeps them cool and cozy, especially in winter. When the sun shines, the snow melts and turns into water that flows down like a river. This water is like the mountain’s way of sharing its drink with the plants and animals living nearby.
