magnitude
When you think about magnitude, think about the size of something, like a big mountain or a tiny ant. It tells us how much of something there is. If you have a big ice cream cone, the magnitude is large because there’s a lot of ice cream. If you have a small scoop, the magnitude is small because there’s less ice cream.
Now, imagine you’re playing with building blocks. If you build a tall tower, the magnitude of your tower is big because it’s very tall and has many blocks. But if your tower is short, the magnitude is small because it doesn’t have as many blocks.
Think about the sound of music. When the music is loud, the magnitude of the sound is large because it fills the room. When the music is soft, the magnitude is small because it’s quiet.
So, magnitude is like a way to describe how big or small something is, how tall or short, how loud or quiet. It’s all about measuring the amount or size of anything around us.
