lung
Think of your lungs as two big balloons inside your chest. When you breathe in, these balloons fill up with air, just like when you blow up a balloon. This air has something called oxygen, which is like a special juice that your body needs to work and play. When you breathe out, the balloons get smaller and push out the air that your body doesn’t need anymore.
Another way to think about lungs is as a pair of sponges. These sponges soak up the oxygen from the air you breathe in. The oxygen then travels through your blood, like cars on a highway, to give your body energy. When the sponges are full of air, they squish out the old air, making room for new, fresh air.
Your lungs are also like a pair of trees. They have big branches called bronchi, and smaller branches called bronchioles. At the end of these tiny branches are little air sacs called alveoli. These are like leaves on a tree where the magic of swapping oxygen and old air happens. This is how your body stays healthy and full of energy!
