hour
An hour is like a piece of the day that helps us keep track of time. Imagine the day is a big pie, and we cut it into 24 equal slices. Each slice is an hour. So, when you wake up, you might eat breakfast during one of these slices, and when you go to sleep, you’ve gone through many slices. This way, we know when to do things like play, eat, or sleep.
Think of an hour as a song with 60 beats. Each beat is a minute, and when all 60 beats are done, the hour-song is over. We listen to these hour-songs all day long. Some songs are for school, some are for playing, and some are for resting.
Imagine a clock as a round playground. The big hand and the little hand are like two friends running around. The big hand takes 60 steps to make one full circle, and that’s one hour. The little hand moves to the next number when the big hand finishes its circle. This is how we know how many hours have passed.
