Hesitate is like when you’re standing at the edge of a swimming pool, and you really want to jump in because the water looks fun, but you’re not sure if it’s too cold. Your mind and your body are having a little chat. Your mind says, ‘Go ahead, it will be fun!’ but your body is saying, ‘Hmm, maybe it’s too cold.’ So, you stand there for a moment, thinking about what to do. That’s what it means to hesitate.
Another way to think about hesitate is like when you’re in a candy store and you see two candies you really like, but you only have enough money for one. Your heart wants both, but you have to choose. You look at one candy, then the other, and you can’t decide which one to pick. That’s hesitation, too.
Hesitating is also like when you’re playing a game and you’re not sure if you should make the next move. Maybe you’re playing a board game and you’re not sure if moving your piece will help you win. You pause for a bit, thinking hard about your next step. That’s another example of hesitation.
