double
Double is like having two of the same thing. Imagine you have one cookie. If you double it, you now have two cookies. It’s like magic, but with numbers! When you double something, you are adding the same amount again. So, if you have one toy car and you double it, you will have two toy cars. It’s like having a twin for your toy car!
Think about a mirror. When you look into it, you see two of you, even though there’s only one real you. That’s kind of like doubling. The mirror makes it look like there’s twice as much, just like doubling makes numbers twice as big.
Imagine a see-saw at the playground. When one side goes up, the other side goes down. If you have one friend on each side and another friend joins each of them, you have doubled the number of friends on the see-saw. Now, there are twice as many people playing! Doubling makes things grow bigger, just like adding more friends to the see-saw.
