A cycle is like a circle that keeps going around and around. Imagine if you are riding a bicycle. When you pedal, the wheels turn in a circle and take you forward. Once you stop pedaling, the wheels will keep moving for a bit, but then they’ll slow down and stop, unless you start pedaling again. This is a cycle because it’s a repeating pattern: pedal, move, slow down, and then pedal again.
Think about the seasons of the year: spring, summer, fall, and winter. Every year, these seasons come and go in the same order. After winter, it’s spring again. This is another cycle because it repeats every year in the same way.
There’s also the water cycle. When the sun shines on the ocean, some water turns into vapor and goes up into the sky to make clouds. Then it rains, and the water goes back into the ocean and rivers. This cycle keeps happening over and over, helping plants grow and keeping rivers full of water.
