custody
Custody is like when someone takes care of a special toy for you. Imagine you have a teddy bear that you love very much. Sometimes, you might need to give your teddy bear to someone else to hold and keep safe because you can’t take care of it at that moment. The person who holds your teddy bear is in ‘custody’ of it. They’re making sure it’s safe and sound until you can have it back.
Think of custody like a superhero cape. When you wear the cape, you feel strong and protected. If you have to take it off, you give it to someone you trust, like your mom or dad, to keep it safe for you. They’re in charge of keeping the cape clean and ready for you to wear again.
Custody is also like a library. When you borrow a book, the library is keeping it safe for everyone to read. The librarian takes care of the book, making sure it doesn’t get lost or damaged. When you’re done reading, you give it back so the library can keep it in custody for the next person who wants to read it.
