breed
When we talk about ‘breed’, think of it like a recipe for making cookies. Just like how you need a special set of ingredients to make chocolate chip cookies, animals and plants have their own special ‘recipes’ that make them unique. These ‘recipes’ are called genes. When two animals or plants come together to have babies, they mix their ‘recipes’ to create something new. This is what we call breeding.
Another way to think about breeding is like painting. Imagine you have a red paint and a blue paint. When you mix them, you get a new color, purple! Breeding is similar because it mixes different colors of ‘genes’ to create something new and special.
Think of breeding as a family tree. Just like how you have a mom, a dad, and maybe grandparents and cousins, plants and animals have families too. Each time a new baby is born, it’s like adding a new leaf to the family tree. Breeding helps the family tree grow bigger with lots of different leaves, all unique in their own way.
